My work is focused on WordPress development, that is taking a client's raw PSD and adapting it to this free Content Management platform. Also finding the right frameworks and plugins to make the sites reliable and manageable by the client.

Project Goals

My main goal is to take this CareerFoundry course and treat it like a full time job, that means 6-8 hours daily of work at the least. My very ambitious deadline is to finish by December 1rst, and my reward a trip to WordCamp US.

Course Goals

I want this course to strengthen my basic web development skills and add to that skillset. I also want to be faster and have a bit more confidence in my skills. I am a freelancer now, but it is difficult to find work if you are not an "expert". Also, as a self taught dev I am eager to learn "best practices" and current development workflows used in "real life".

Hello, my name is Sol and I am a web developer born and raised in Central America.

I taught myself about the WWW when it was just starting out back in 1996, and it still excites me because of the new tools and breakthroughs!

My work experience consists of a mix of Web Development Consulting and Freelance Translating Services (Spanish <> English).
When working as a Web Dev consultant I’ve undertaken tasks such as:

Working with CMS systems: Installing, configuring, migrating, backing up and customizing [Wordpress, Joomla! Drupal]
Adapting purchased themes and templates to Clients specs
Evaluating plugins, themes templates and software for client projects
Installing and adapting scripts (PHP, Javascript), Creating custom software (ASP/VbScript, PHP).

As a freelancer interpreter and translator my tasks included mainly working with printed and digital translations such as manuals, websites, brochure and pamphlet translations and more.

I am always learning and improving on these baselines! I love programming for the web so it is very easy to find challenges and play with new technologies.

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in WordPress Development. That includes making, adapting and customizing WordPress themes and also Plugin Development.

What services do you offer?

I offer general web development services as well, such as Site Migrations, PSD to HTML conversions, script installations and much more!

How long does making a website take?

Every web project is different, for that reason I ask you to contact me so that I can quote you regarding your project. I like to deliver a high quality product, so the work will not just be done but we will work together to make sure it meets high standards.

Do you do UX and UI as well?

My education has covered fundamentals of UX and UI design, however it is not my expertise. I work with several UX/UI professionals, if you contact me I can refer you to someone that will be able to help you with these types of services.

If x/y/z CMS is free, why do you charge so much for developing a site?

Even though many of the popular content management systems are very easy to work with, many projects need special customization; not just to get a personalized product, but also so that you, the client, can fully manage your website.
